When Jennifer Abubakar Abena, 29 and her father, Magudo, 53, raised over fifteen thousand dollars for a charity to help their corrupt ridden village, there was no way they could have foreseen the level of success they would reach. Just over a year after their campaign began, the team have implemented plans within the village to turn it into an oasis, rather than the semi-baron wasteland that is was. The fresh-water purification center is half way through completion. The new hospital has been finished for some months now and already proving a huge success and the new school’s 250 pupils are queuing up to take lessons and get an education. This has been such a success that the children who missed out on a place, have been accommodated in temporary huts until the extension can be completed.

Jennifer Abubakar Abena’s father speaks no English, so, through his daughter, told us of his joy. “We are so very pleased with the way things have gone. The generosity shown by people from all over the world has made it possible for us to not only wipe out disease and illiteracy in this village, but also it is a step forward for us to stamp out corruption too. I am so overjoyed and the money is still coming in.”

Jennifer Abubakar Abena echoed those words saying, “We would like to thank everybody who has made any size of donation to this village. We hope that our work will continue to create and develop this village. Maybe one day it will become a thriving small town, with businesses and communication networks. And it will no longer be corrupt. That is our ultimate goal and we will, one day, make sure it happens.” Jennifer Abubakar Abena smiled as she walked back to the construction site to oversee the project.

If you are thinking about taking a trip in the near future, there are many areas that you should consider. There are places in North America with lots of history and sights, but there are so many other places abroad that can be much more interesting and historically significant. There are many places in the world that you may never think of to travel on your vacation, but they may be just the relaxing getaway you have been in search of. We have put together some ideas for world travel to help you decide where you want to travel on your next vacation.

If you like the beach scene, there are many beaches to sample here in the states. Cities such as Miami, Dayton, Jacksonville, Malibu, and many cities in Hawaii offer great beaches for sunning and swimming. If you prefer leaving the country, you could always try South America. Rio de Janeiro has very nice beaches, however, the bathing suits are somewhat skimpy if existent at all. The Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands have wonderful beaches that beckon American tourists on a daily basis. Their beaches promise us palm trees and sandy shores as well as warm breezes and days of laziness and relaxation.

If you are a history buff, you may find that Pompeii is the place that tops your desired list of foreign locales. This location in Italy is the site of the great eruption of Mt Vesuvius some 2000 years ago. The city was completely destroyed, yet perfectly preserved by the lava that filled the city streets in an instant after the eruption. Seeing the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum (also destroyed in the same manner) is like stepping back in time to a place that time forgot. The history that lies there is more than we as Americans can ever experience in our home country. Also, while in Italy, you would have to stop by Rome and see the rich history of the Roman civilization and the emperors that once ruled the known world.

If you live for adventure, then and African Safari is probably tops on your list of things to do before you die. An African safari offers excitement and adventure, especially for those of us used to only seeing those types of animals on television. There are tour groups to take you on the safari and explain the animals and surroundings to the group. On a safari, you can see such animals as lions, elephants, monkeys and zebra in their natural habitat. Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are just a few of the places that offer an authentic African Safari.

If you are more into winter sports such as snow skiing, then a trip to the mountains of Europe may be right up your alley. The advancement in safety over the last several years have made snow skiing safer and more enjoyable for professionals and novices alike. Downhill skiing may seem too advanced for some, and if so, cross country skiing may be more the thing for you. There are resorts and parks all over the world that offer trails for cross country skiers of all ages.

With all of these ideas for world travel, you are sure to find something to tempt your thoughts for your next vacation.

When you travel the world, you want to do it in style. We all do. You really don’t want to throw all of your clothes in a Hefty bag and take off for Milan, now do you? Nor do you want to borrow the luggage that your grandmother got as a wedding gift. You want to travel in style with stylish luggage. You want to have something that will hold your belongings comfortably, yet keep your things as wrinkle-free as possible. With a little research and some bargain hunting, you should be able to find stylish luggage for world travel at an affordable price.

Don’t think about the routine rectangle suitcase right now, let’s go into other garment bags and accessories that can keep your clothing neat and organized on your jaunt around the world. If you are a frequent traveler for business or pleasure, these items are almost a must in your travel accessory department. Several small folding cubes can fit inside your suitcases and will help to insure that your clothing arrives with as few wrinkles as it was packed with. A suit bag can keep a man’s suit or ladies dress from becoming wrinkled by remaining in its hanging state for the duration of the trip. If you will remove the garment from the bag as soon as you arrive at your destination, this will help minimize any small wrinkles that may have gotten into the clothing during your long flight. A tie case, preferably leather, will keep your ties from getting wrinkles down the front of them and keep them organized as well.

Don’t forget to pack a compact travel umbrella in your handbag or carry-on luggage. You never know when it may be raining when you land in your destination country. Also, by packing a small travel alarm clock, you will never have to worry about missing that hotel wakeup call again. Also, when traveling to a foreign country, a money belt is a good investment in case of emergencies. By keeping a fair amount of money in your money belt, as well as a spare credit card, you will help insure that if something were to happen to you while in a strange country you can still afford to get back home with no problems. You can now find money belts is a variety of fabrics including nylon, silk and cotton. Any item that you bring that you plan to leave at the hotel should be locked in the hotel safe when not on your person. Any jewelry or any valuables of any kind would be best left locked up so as not to tempt anyone with stealing your priceless valuables.

In order to keep things better organized for yourself, it is best to pack in coordinating or matching luggage. If you have 4 bags and they all look different, it will be harder to remember your luggage and retrieve it quickly in the airports and other terminals. Matching luggage sets can get pricey, but there are quality sets on the market at discount prices. Remember that unfortunately, you will be judged by how you look and what is surrounding you, so when you are standing in the airport in Milan wearing cutoff jeans and flip flops, surrounded by 14 Hefty bags, you will likely not get the same welcome as if you had purchased a nice set of matching luggage and worn nicer clothing.

Post 9/11, airport security has been greatly heightened and there is a good possibility that your suitcase could be searched. If this happens, keep in mind that a well organized suitcase is not only easier to search, but easier to repack by airport security. Things like packing cubes and shaving kits will ease the repacking and also help you tremendously when unpacking and repacking at your destination. Small things like tie cases and laundry bags seem miniscule, but will be of the largest convenience in your world travels.

The best way to have stylish luggage for world travel is to make sure it matches and is organized. Organization is the key to much happiness in the world, and if you can start your vacation organized, then it is sure to remain happy and fun.

If your idea of a great holiday is exploring the great outdoors, then Canada is the destination for you. There are lots of activities to experience and places to explore in Canada. From eagle spotting in British Columbia to snowboarding or climbing in the Rocky Mountains to a French experience in Quebec. Canada is the second largest country in the world but has a relatively small population so there are no crowd issues.

Outdoor sportsYou name an outdoor sport and chances are Canada offers it. From whitewater rafting to trekking through the tundra, skiing on snow-capped peaks to golfing in grasslands, and fishing on serene, inland lakes or lagoons.

After an adventurous day in the great Canadian outdoors, relax your muscles in a natural hot spring. Take your pick of hot springs in British Columbia, the Queen Charlotte Islands and Banff in Alberta.

Just remember, outdoor activities can affect your travel insurance. So before you go, make sure your travel insurance covers you for all the activities you plan to do on holiday.

Natural wondersWith 42 National Parks, Canada’s nature reserves cover an area roughly the size of New Zealand. There is plenty of fresh air, wildlife and natural wonders to discover including, the Rocky Mountains; Niagara Falls; the Great Lakes of Erie, Huron, Michigan, Ontario and Superior; the St Lawrence River; the Bay of Fundy; the Canadian Arctic and Quebec’s Perc? Rock.

A taste of FranceQuebec is home to 85% of the seven million French-Canadians residing in Canada.Montreal is the second largest French-speaking city in the world but has a 50:50 French/British cultural split. Montreal is a melting pot of cultural experiences including the city’s famous jazz festival in June and July. Try a little French faire from a gourmet restaurant, or a traditional poitine (chips, gravy and melted cheese). There are plenty of fine French pastries and croissants on offer too.

A little historyCanada’s history is a rich tapestry of cultures. Thousands of years before Europeans landed on Canada’s shores, indigenous groups including the Acadia, Iroquois and Cree, made Canada their home. Inuit aboriginals also spread into Arctic Canada about a thousand years ago. Today, indigenous Indian communities in Canada are widely called the ‘First Nations’.England became aware of Newfoundland in 1497 when an Italian-born navigator John Cabot sailed from Bristol to the coast of North American. Cabot claimed Newfoundland for the English King, Henry VII but it was only in 1583 that it was declared an English colony. In 1534, the French explorer Jacques Cartier claimed the shores of the Gulf of St Lawrence for France. In the 1600′s a fierce rivalry between the French, English and Dutch sprang up around the lucrative fur trade. Their rivalry exploited existing rivalries among the indigenous Indian nations.

The Seven Year’s War broke out in 1756 between New France and the British Colonies. The British colonies were larger and economically stronger than New France so in 1759, Quebec fell to the British. The British also claimed all the French colonies east of the Mississippi River. Following the Seven Year’s War, acts were signed that joined or split provinces to form the Canada we know today.

In 1931, Canada gained autonomy from Britain. In 1982, Canada created a new constitution and declared independence from Britain. However, Canada remains part of the Commonwealth. First Nation, French, British and other European cultures plus Métis (a mix of American Indian and Euro-American) influences all remain strong.

From the mountains to the seaMost of the northern most part of the North American continent belongs to Canada. It has the world’s longest coastline stretching 202, 080 kilometres. Canada spans a massive territory between the Atlantic to the east and the Pacific to the west, with the US to the south, the Arctic to the north (the magnetic North pole lies in Canada), Alaska to the northwest and Greenland to the northeast.

The Appalachian Mountains stretch from the Atlantic Provinces to part of southern Quebec. The Great Lakes and St Lawrence River lie between the Canadian Shield, an immense rock base with hilly terrain and the Appalachian Mountains.

The interior is mostly vast plains naturally divided from east to west by the Rocky Mountains.Canada’s highest point is Mount Logan at 5,959 metres. Mount Logan forms part of the Saint Elias Mountains in Yukon Territory.

It is not just snow-capped peaks that line the Canadian horizon; Western Canada has volcanoes that form part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.

When to travelThe temperature in Canada swings from 40ºC to -40ºC. Spring can arrive as early as February on the west coast and as late as April in the rest of Canada.

Summer is from June to August and is the ideal time for trekking, golf and water sports. Autumn is spectacular in eastern Canada, with golden leaves crowning the trees and fairly pleasant temperatures.

Winter is when the ski season kicks off and can run from December to June in the hills and eastern Canada. From late October, the Canadian landscape is covered in a blanket of snow and temperatures head down below zero.

Travelling by planeYou can catch a flight to Toronto from London, Manchester, Cardiff, Exeter and Belfast. You can also get a direct flight from London to Ottawa, St Johns, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

If you are travelling on a budget, check out cheap flights with Zoom and FlyGlobespan (possibly via the US) and tickets to Quebec with Air France (via France). For more flight options visit http://www.flightmapping.com/Canada.

PaperworkIf you hold a British passport, you do not need a visa to visit Canada unless you want to live or work there. If this is the case, you will need a residence or work permit. However, if you are a UK student between the ages of 18 -35, you could be eligible for a 3 -12 month Working Holiday Visa. For more information, visit http://www.canada.org.uk.

Canada travel information The FCO travel advice guide on Canada offers country-specific tips on travel health and how to avoid crime. For more information, visit http://www.fco.gov.uk.

For more exciting holiday ideas, visit http://www.explore.canada.travel.

Or if you want a travel guide to take with you on your trip, buy a copy of Lonely Planet’s Canada travel guide or The Rough Guide to Canada.

Travel insurance If you’re planning to take part in adventure or winter sport activities, there’s always an element of risk involved. So before you leave, make sure you have the right travel insurance cover. Most travel insurance companies offer quick and easy travel insurance quotes online. For a travel insurance quote and more information about the types of travel insurance available from Direct Line, visit http://www.directline.com/travel/welcome.htm.

Most everyone has a dream of one day traveling to other parts of the world. Most people are halted quickly when they are given prices on world travel trips. With the internet and so many travel agencies in the market for your business, finding a good deal on world travel specifics such as airline tickets and hotel stays can be relatively easy. However, the truth is that traveling the world is still very expensive. If you do a little research and take the advice of this article, finding a good deal on world travel may be easier than you think.

Traveling cheaply has to be more of a way of life than a single event. When you learn how to get flights and hotels less expensively, you should transfer that knowledge into every aspect of your travel plans. For example, when planning your vacation several months in advance, check the prices for last minute flights to your destination at that time. If you find that waiting until the last minute to book your flight could save you a bundle, then you may consider that as part of your travel plans. Just be sure to be flexible in case you cannot get on the flight that you had originally planned. If you can apply this simple step to all of your flights, you may be able to travel to more destinations and see more of the world.

Make sure that you check around before you make any purchase regarding your world travel plans. Do not purchase the first airline ticket you see offered online and do not book the first hotel you find just because you think it seems like a good deal. Always check no less than three sources for every aspect of your vacation.

When you get to your vacation destination, speak with some of the locals. Find out from them the best places to go for a great dinner or even a less expensive hotel that is off the beaten path. The locals usually know the best small restaurants with great atmosphere that will not empty your pockets on one meal. Also remember that in many countries around the world you are able to bargain with the vendors for the prices of the souvenirs that you are taking home to grandma. Bargaining is not a normal way of life for most Americans, but if you are good at bargaining, then you can get some really good deals on great native merchandise.

You will find that in some parts of the world, you can even bargain for your hotel room cost and in some cases, the cost of the flight. Just remember there are tips in bargaining: Take your time ? don’t rush the bargain. More than likely what you are bargaining for is not going to be sold in the next thirty seconds. Also, be willing to walk away. If you are willing to walk away, then you could possibly get a better deal. If you walk away and do not get a better deal, but you want the item anyway, be willing to return and get it at the lowest bargained price.

Bargaining is a chief aspect in finding a good deal on world travel. Being an American will automatically brand you as rich, even if you are not rich in your own country, therefore being able to bargain is essential in finding a good deal on world travel.

The beginning of our world travel adventure. We met in Laos in 2007, while following our mutual passion of global travel or, as we like to call it, globetramping. Our photo gear broke the ice and we’ve never looked back. After a month together in Sri Lanka, a few trips between Chicago and Edmonton, and countless hours on Skype, we have decided that Laura living in Illinois and Doug living in Alberta is not going to work. What are our options? Doug could move to breezy Chicago, Laura could move to icy Edmonton, or we could leave both behind to follow our passions. Again, the deduction is a no-brainer. We plan to leave in July of next year and return no earlier than the August of 2011. We’re committed. We’re gone. We’re globetramping!

We use the term “globetramping” instead of”travelling” because: 1) we like to do it on the cheap because the chances for more genuine cultural contact are enhanced (and that leaves more dollars for camera gear); 2) we do it everywhere, the more out of the ordinary and untraveled the better; 3) we do it without a fixed plan. As best said by Lao Tzu, “A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.”

Now the questions begin. Where should we go? How should we travel? How can we pay for it? How will we make our families and friends comprehend what we’re doing? Will our pictures help to pay for our travels? What about visas? Medical? Are Around the Globe fares a good choice? Who will carry the camera gear? So much learning to do, so many plans to make, so many questions.

Maybe you have with the same enthusiasm, the same thoughts, and the same questions as us. This blog will record our voyages. We’ll share what we learn along the way. It’s going to be an incredible voyage of discovery on many fronts. Mark Twain said, “I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” We’re going to discover.

Lao Tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” This blog is that first step in our global travel venture.

The best teacher when it comes to world history is actually being able to visit all these historic places mentioned inside the entire world history book one place at a time, as much as cheap travels permit.

We all had that experience where we had the chance to go somewhere and the memories in that place remains with you forever. Imagine what it could do if you make it as a more thorough research on a country by really going there to learn about its history and culture.

Its always fascinating to go to a country where you get to visit the tribes and really see what they look like, be able to taste the delicacies of the place, have the chance to learn their culture, and hear the history of the place right from the natives mouth.

Learning is a lot more fun when you don’t have to bore yourself inside a classroom with a book in front of you having to read all these and not knowing or understanding what it means. By actually experiencing what its like to be in that place, you will be able to relate to what was being described inside those references, which makes it a lot more interesting to remember them by heart.

You don’t have to force yourself into memorizing the places; you get to remember them because you’ve been there. The best part of it is that since it stays with you, you get to write about it, and you can even relay the information as if you were the book.

Discounts for student fares are often offered in all transportations. A great way of making good use of this offers is to let them travel. It could be as an educational tour for the whole class, a group of science club students, or exchange students.

Putting a little more fun on the way teachers teach can actually give every student motivation to learn more. Teach them to explore the world around them instead of spending all their free times in malls doing nothing, or in front of the televisions or in their personal computer playing computer games.

With this cheap student travel deals, you can take them or let go into nature trips to any part of the world. This way they will be aware of the possibilities and circumstances their experiences could teach them. Let them start early, and who knows they’ll love it and continue traveling when they’re older.

Cheap student travel deals can easily be researched in Internet including advisable places to visit, family travel deals is also available online and you get to book the flight through your computer at home and be able to manage the schedule and have a copy of the itinerary so you never get out of touch.

Travel now and discover. Experience is the best teacher ever. So, let them explore the world out there. Who knows, maybe when they get back you’ll be surprised with what they’ve gain from the whole expedition.
